Teresa I. Ford

Picture of Ms. Ford A 1992 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Teresa Ford has been practicing law for nearly 18 years. While at the UT School of Law, Ms. Ford was active in trial advocacy programs on both an intramural and national basis, served as an officer on the UT Law Board of Advocates, and was inducted into the National Chapter of the Order of the Barristers in May 1992.

Upon graduation, Ms. Ford joined the law firm of Mills, Shirley, Eckel & Bassett in Galveston, Texas and later joined the Austin office of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, focusing her practice in the area of medical malpractice defense. After moving to Houston in order to further her health law practice, Ms. Ford began practicing corporate health care law in 1997 with an in-house counsel position at Houston based MES Group, a medical management company. Ms. Ford then joined the Swiss based medical device manufacturer Centerpulse USA Inc. (f/k/a Sulzer Medica) as in-house counsel in 2001, where she remained until beginning her own firm in April of 2003.

Ms. Ford practices primarily in the area of health care fraud and abuse¹ and counts among her clients national and international medical device manufacturers, individual physicians, and sales agents and distributors who work with the medical device industry. She is a frequent lecturer and trainer on health care compliance topics and writes a regular column for ORTHOPRENEUR, an industry publication focusing on health care issues specific to orthopedic surgeons. Ms. Ford provides training to companies and physicians alike and has authored numerous papers on both the training process as well as compliance program drafting and implementation.

Ms. Ford is licensed to practice law in Washington, Texas, Florida, Michigan, and Massachusetts. She is active in several professional and community service organizations and lives and maintains an office in Kirkland, Washington, just outside of Seattle. Prior to entering law school, Ms. Ford, a classically trained musician, performed and toured with symphony orchestras throughout the country for nearly 10 years. Ms. Ford holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Ohio State University and is proud to say that she was a Buckeye football fan long before their 2002 National Championship!
